Yes, Street Smart Driving School is state licensed and bonded.
At what age can I start driver’s education?
You must be 14 to begin driver’s education but you have to be 15 to take your permit (knowledge) test.
How much does it cost and is there a payment plan?
Yes we have 2 options:
1) You may pay all at once $360.00 (30hrs. classroom & 6 hrs. Behind –the –Wheel)
2) Pay $180.00 pre-registration and $180.00 due day of last class (30 hrs.).
Does my child need to attend every day for two weeks?
No, at Street Smart Driving School we have a flexible class schedule. Our sessions run 3 weeks, 4 if needed. We ask that your child attend at least twice a week. Our sessions are suited to accommodate your child’s active schedule (academics, sports, and family commitments).
How quickly can I finish the classes?
You can finish the class in two weeks if you wish, otherwise you can complete within scheduled session.
What do I need to do to register for class?
Just call 612-669-4139 and we will get you registered for the class session that works best for you.
How does the Behind –the – Wheel work?
After you receive your permit, you can call me to schedule your first Behind – the – Wheel lesson. The first lesson is 1 ½ hours and is scheduled about 30 days after permit. I recommend driving with a parent or guardian as often as you can to get more comfortable with driving. The remaining three lessons will be divided up within the time the student has to hold his/her permit.
What do I need to take my road test?
You will need your permit, your “white card” (which you will receive from me on final lesson 4th), vehicle insurance card, and your Social Security Number. If you are under 18 years old you will need to bring your Minnesota State Log Sheet. Please make sure vehicle is eligible for the road test. Review your driver’s manual pg. 7 for vehicle requirements.
What if I took my 30 hours classroom with a different driving school, can I take the Behind-the-Wheel with Street Smart?
Yes, you can. Just bring your “letter of course completion” from your previous Drivers Education. Once I have the letter I will sign you up for Behind-the-Wheel and complete the “blue card”. You than can go and take your permit test.

Will my son or daughter have different Behind-the-Wheel Instructor’s?
No, I teach the 30 hours of classroom and I am also your child’s Behind-the-Wheel instructor. I strongly believe the 30 hours I spend in the classroom with your child provides me with much insightfulness and in turn prepares me for the Behind-the-Wheel lessons.
